The Cot

How much stuff do you have beside your bed?  We have water glasses, our phones, iPods, eye patches, eReaders, books, tissues and I have a lavender pillow mask.

We are making Miss 17months cot a bit more active and fun for her & the upside is she occupies herself in the morning or afternoon.  She’s old enough for the items not to be dangerous or distracting.

Hidden behind the pillow are two books.  Stupidly we put paper books not board books in there and discovered ripped pages in the morning.

Because she still uses a dummy we throw in a few more later at night when we go to bed.  That way she can find another or enjoy tossing them all overboard.

We now put a water cup in there, again placing it later in the night, which she can’t open or spill.  Although one day she’s figure it out, guaranteed!

In the morning the bed looks trashed, books, dummies and blankets are tossed everywhere, but she is happy and occupied, and more importantly we can ‘wake’ her at 7 or so not 6am when either boredom, water needs, or dummy tosssing make her cry out.
